Indira Institute of Management, Pune

Curious 2017

Congratulations to the winners of Curious 2017

Evaluators’ Note:

“At the onset, on behalf of Indira Institute of Management, Pune and all the evaluators, we would like to thank all the participating teams of Curious, 2017.

Evaluating the cases has been a pleasant learning experience for all of us. Cases are a beautiful way of vicariously learning management principles and practices. While there are, no standard solutions expected out of the case analysis, we expected the participant community to evolve and suggest solutions to the case, based on appropriate understanding and appreciation of the problem in the case and the context of the case, employing relevant framework to analyze the case and evolve solutions in sync with the analysis and give recommendations which are logically connected with the analysis.

We also looked for evidences for incisive understanding of the customers and markets, presence of marketing perspective, use of additional information from sources beyond the case to generate insights, the rigor of analysis, use of existing frameworks for analysis and logically evolving strategies rooted in the contextually relevant case analysis.

We, after due diligence, have identified the winning teams, which reflected the above perspective in their case solutions. While most of the teams employed the above perspective, the degree of rigor in situation analysis, choice of frameworks/ tools, it's relevance to the case, logical connect between the analysis and solutions given, relevance of externally sourced data varied. We had quite a task at hand in choosing the top teams as some teams analyzed the case intensely but failed to logically connect the analysis to the recommendations, while a few others came out with very brilliant suggestions without justifying the reasons through analysis. Trading off the non-performance on one parameter against performance on some other/s parameter/s was a challenging task for us. We sincerely appreciate the efforts of all the teams and congratulate the winning teams, without undermining or discounting the efforts of the other teams.
